Remember Caine Monroy? 9-year-old Caine spent his summer vacation building an elaborate DIY cardboard arcade inside his dad’s used auto parts store, and invited people to play. Business was nonexistent until a filmmaker named Nirvan stopped at the store. Caine’s Arcade has gone viral and serves as a source of inspiration for young entrepreneurs and seasoned business people alike.
Caine recently shared what he learned at a TEDx Youth Conference. His advice?
- Be nice to customers. (This one is circled)
- Do a business that is fun.
- Do not give up. (This one is circled and underlined THREE times)
- Start with what you have.
- Use recycled stuff.
Caine’s success has now sparked the Imagination Foundation and a scholarship fund. You can get a Caine’s Arcade staff T-shirt too. All profits from shirts sold online will go towards the Imagination Foundation to find, foster and fund creativity and entrepreneurship in kids.
